The Death of Accountability

I have little to no patience for those who try to place fault for their current situation on others. Whether it be their socio-economic standing, their race, their disability, some disease or condition they have, or maybe the worst, drug abuse or "dependency".

Human beings tend to make life far more difficult than it needs to be. We do this out of consideration for others, and to not injure another's feelings.
But there remains something simple in this great big life that we've been blessed with......accountability. Here's an example as simply as I know how to put it.....

If you choose eat more calories than you burn in a given day, you will get fat.

If you choose to do drugs (possibly even once) there's the possibility that you will become an addict.

If you choose not to exercise the opportunity to vote, you can't very well bitch about the way things are going in America. (I mean, you can, but it tends to fall on deaf ears to those of us who DO vote)

YOU and you alone are responsible, past the age of 18, for your actions and the consequences of those actions. Period.
This is not to say that people don't get dealt a shitty hand in life. That's a simple truth. But that doesn't mean that you shuck all accountability because your Daddy beat your ass a little too often than maybe he should have!
Because when you kick the can of accountability down the road, someone else becomes immediately responsible for cleaning up the mess YOU made. And while I can't speak for the rest of the unwashed masses, I've got all that I can handle dealing with MY OWN messes and misgivings. I ain't got time to worrying about somebody outside of my family and the chaos they may or may not be creating in the world.

So.....grow up. Own your mistakes, learn from them and move forward from there.
